The chaps at Zertec don't' appear to be interested in half measures. Whether it's the brightest HID light conversions, the fruitiest exhaust conversions or dinner plate size brakes, they seek them out. Brakes are their latest area of interest.

World Rally Car Brembo Brakes

The easiest way to make a race car go round a race track faster is to make it stop more efficiently - brake later and harder and you will make up more time on each lap. This is well known to race and rally teams, so the top teams always use the best brakes that money can buy. The basis of the Zertec kit for the Griffith and Chimaera are discs and calipers as used on leading WRC competitors vehicles (gravel specification front brakes).

The Discs: Brembo fully floating 300mm x 25mm grooved discs

These discs have many advantages over regular discs, the prime one being temperature control. High performance brakes need to reach optimum temperature quickly yet they need to be able to dissipate excess heat equally as fast. Another advantage is that under extreme braking the heat transfer does not over expand the disc and ‘pop’ the bolt heads off. The race-engineered disc bells and caliper adaptors are made of HE 30 TF high grade aluminum. All the aluminium parts are anodised gold for durability and appearance.

The Calipers

The 4-pot calipers are manufactured by Brembo for motorsport use - do not confuse these specialised units with road calipers - there is a world of difference. The calipers use dual sized pistons, which give a more progressive feel than equal sized ones. The pistons are drilled to keep as much heat as possible out of the brake fluid. A quick release clip allows fast pad changes for track day use.

The Kit

The Zertec kit comes complete as standard with Ferodo DS3000 pads, other pad material can be supplied at customers request. Castrol SRF racing brake fluid is also included with the package. Castrol SRF has a boiling point of over 500 degrees Celsius, which results in zero compression for consistent, lap-after- lap, pedal feel - the ultimate performance fluid. To complete the kit a full set (front and rear) of BF Goodridge brake line fittings and stainless steel braided hoses are included. Best of all, the kit is engineered to fit in the standard 15” front wheels! There is also a 370mm x 32mm (disc size) kit to fit 18” wheels (including the Cerbera), which has 8 pistons and 4 pads per disc!

Zertec have negotiated an unbeatable deal with Brembo for the supply of these parts with the 300mm kit coming in at Price is £1,799 plus VAT for the 300mm kit including fitting.
